Kismet: Katie & Larry

Katie and Larry both grew up in Binghamton. Two little kids riding their bikes to Cavanaugh’s for candy and ice cream in the early 70’s. How many times could they have crossed paths in that store, yet never meeting until 35 years later.  Katie lived in Binghamton until she moved away for college, finally landing in California. Larry decided to stay closer to home and enter law enforcement.  As fate would have it, Katie returned to her home town when she was 37, to begin again.  She accepted a civilian position at the Binghamton Police Department where Larry had risen in the ranks to Police Captain.

Everyone teased Katie that she would end up dating a police officer but she swore up and down that she never would. She had no interest in police officers,  until the day Larry walked into Police Admin. with his beaming gap tooth smile and beautiful bald head. She was absolutely smitten. For the next year and a half they would make excuses to bump into each other at work. It wasn’t until a BPD officer was injured that fate would bring them together.

Katie contacted Larry to see if he wanted to go with her to visit the officer. Dinner followed, then another date, and by the third date, somewhere between shooting guns and visiting the pumpkin farm, they both knew each was “the one”.  Katie always said she would never date a cop but what she didn’t realize is that she would end up marrying one…the neighborhood boy, just around the corner.
