Binghamton Yoga

I had the opportunity to speak to the owner of Binghamton Yoga, Jason Shaw.  Contrary to the name the studio isn’t located in Binghamton. It’s in Endicott.

As a kid Jason was very active. He enjoyed sports and karate. As he grew older he began weightlifting. That is until he started to suffer from lower back pain.

Pain teaches you a lot about yourself. It can be both depressing and enlightening”

Still, he continued his workouts working through the pain until the intensity and frequency made him take a step back. Traditional doctors, x-rays, MRIs and drugs did not give him relief. So Jason sought another route for his pain management. He began holistic nutrition, massages and chiropractic work. Chiropracty gave Jason the most comfort from his pain, so he explored this option further and found yoga.

Jason started to include yoga into his workouts, first for the physical aspect, and then for the emotional benefits. Now 20 years later, Jason is virtually pain-free.

In 2001 he began teaching yoga.  He started with Ashtanga yoga and branched out into other yoga styles. The freedom, alignment and awareness allowed Jason to help his students see better results.

In 2009 Binghamton Yoga was born. The studio offers 26 classes a week, 9 different classes from yin and yang yoga, to restorative, and acrobatic yoga. Descriptions, schedule, and rates can be found on their website.

Jason feels the best he has ever felt physically.

If you get a chance stop in, take a class, and tell Jason MY TOWN sent you.
