Did You Know – the Susquehanna River
The Susquehanna River…
- maybe the oldest major river system in the world going back as far as 340 million
years ago. - is 464 miles long making it the longest river lying entirely in the United States which drains into the Atlantic.
- comes from the Delaware Indian term -Sisa-we-;hak-hanna which translates to Oyster River
- is where Binghamton University’s Crew Club practices.
- was explored by Captain John Smith in 1608. He noted that “Heaven and Earth
seemed never to have agreed better”
