Jamie Shaw Bartender at Ruby Tuesday
Meet Jamie Shaw, May’s Bartender of the month feature. Our focus here is to introduce the reader to some of the great people bartending in the area and share with you a little bit about them. Since the page is entitled Bartender of the Month, it’s fair to ask, what exactly makes a good bartender? There are so many qualities that you can weigh; speed, knowledge, patience, experience and still more patience. But one quality that you might not see on any form, may just be the most important. And that is heart. Something that Jamie shares all day long with her guests and her family at Ruby Tuesday. Jamie wouldn’t be the one to describe herself to you in those words though, or any words. In fact when I asked her questions about herself, the responses were mostly about her Ruby Tuesday family which grows bigger each day with each new guest. “Everyone has their own experiences and journey in life and I learn so much everyday from everyone here that I work with and from every guest. They’re my family.” As for her own journey, Jamie is a native to the area growing up in Chenango Valley and Binghamton where she was on her school’s softball and basketball teams.
She’s never lost her passion for athletics, now focusing on fitness and power lifting. Within the community, Jamie is grateful to have the opportunity to speak at different schools and forums about her own life experiences and struggles to let others know they are not alone, and share in hopes for today and tomorrow. And as far as Jamie’s tomorrow, she’s currently pursuing an education in radiology. Not too surprising she’s chosen a field where she can help people. If you’re in the area, stop by Ruby Tuesday and say hi to Jamie. She’ll be glad to see you.
