Take Me Out to the Ball Game

You’ve no doubt heard the song Take Me Out to the Ball Game . You may have even sung it a time or two while attending a game. And why not, this great baseball tradition has become the unofficial baseball anthem sung at games since 1934 and popularized by singers, movies and actors countless times since being written in 1908 by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer. (This song team was also famous for writing Shine on Harvest Moon). Some notables who have performed or referenced this popular baseball tune have been Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly in the musical Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Bing Crosby, Carly Simon, Nike, Gatorade, The Marx Brothers, Sports Illustrated, and even shows like The Bad News Bears go to Japan and I love Lucy.  So the next time you’re at the NYSEG Stadium cheering on our home team the Rumble Ponies, join in and be part of this great tradition.

Chorus
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.

The Rumble Ponies kick off the season on April 4th. For a complete list of games check out their website at www.milb.com/binghamton
