FIT FOR LIFE

Interview with Synergy Fitness
Lead Facility Trainer Byron Palmer

Strength is never a weakness,
weakness is never a strength.

Byron grew up in a competitive family where sports and fitness went hand in hand. At a young age he played soccer and baseball and as he grew older he played football and lacrosse. Eventually, he ended up playing lacrosse for SUNY Brockport where he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology.

Byron started out as an intern at Synergy Fitness and now is a lead facility trainer. His mission in life is to help people live a more empowered life through fitness. He loves working at Synergy. He knows if a client comes in wanting to change their life, anyone at Synergy can assist them. He believes this makes a world of a difference.

We followed up with Byron after reading an article about him helping a U.S. Army Veteran who was involved in a car accident. The vet was in a coma for over a year. When he came out of his coma he worked with both a therapist and Byron. Byron’s job was to help to get his physical strength back. One year later he can ride an assault bike without issues, can get off the ground on his own and now can walk to and from the gym. Byron believes strongly that “this is what it’s all about, the long-term effects, mentally and physically.”

Personally, when Byron’s not at Synergy working out he likes to be outdoors. Byron enjoys camping, recreational sports, swimming, and spending time with his dog.
